Rummage sale to benefit foster parents

JOPLIN, Mo. — A rummage sale this weekend will help raise funds for foster parents dealing with cancer. Mike and Sandi Simpson have hosted more than 200 foster children over the last 20 years, and adopted nine of those fosters Ñ six in the last year alone, said Darci Brown, daughter of the couple.

Mike Simpson was diagnosed with renal cell carcinoma in March. The diagnosis has forced him to quit his job.

The sale will donate proceeds to the Simpsons. The event includes a raffle, silent auction and labor auction.

Items available include home furnishings, Branson show tickets, jewelry, shoes and more.

The sale will be held at 1651 W. Seventh St., Suites 19 to 23. It will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. today and Saturday.

Details: 417-529-5562.
