Stone's Throw comedy a story of three couples

CARTHAGE, Mo. — The tales of three couples are told in a new comedy at Stone's Throw Dinner Theatre. Neil Simon's "Plaza Suite," directed by Betsy Fleischaker, will be presented today through May 19.

The play features three couples staying in the same hotel room at different times:

  • A suburban couple stays while their house is painted. During their stay, it occurs to them that they may have visited that room before, during an especially significant event. If only they could remember when that was.
  • A Hollywood producer, after his third marriage, seeks a new adventure and calls a childhood sweetheart. He later finds out that the woman who idolized him from afar is a little more than he bargained for.
  • A mother and father fight about the best way to get their daughter out of the bathroom and to the downstairs ballroom, so she can attend her wedding.

The play was expanded in 1970 for the movie "The Out-of-Towners." The Tony-nominated play made its debut in 1968 on Broadway.

The cast includes Tyler Cole, Jalil Hamilton, Raven Micale, Tom Brown, Hannah Marsh, David Kloppenborg, Melanie Kloppenborg, Shanti Navarre, Dee Hubbard, Hannah Marsh and Carl Cunningham.

Tickets: $22, $19 for seniors, students and youth, $10 for children. On Fridays and Saturdays, doors open at 6 p.m., dinner is served at 6:30 and the show begins at 7:30. On Sundays, doors open at 12:30 p.m., dinner is served at 1 and the show begins at 2.
