Published January 10, 2009 12:09 am -  Four motorists hurt in traffic accidents on roads in areaThree Shell Knob residents were injured in a two-vehicle accident at 7:44 a.m. Thursday on Highway 39, two miles south of Shell Knob in Barry County, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
One of the drivers involved, Edward H. Baker, 81, was flown by medical helicopter to St. John’s Hospital at Springfield, the state patrol said. The other driver, Ruby L. Harker, 84, and her passenger, Melvin F. Harker, 87, were flown by medical helicopter to St. John’s Hospital in Berryville Ark., the patrol said. The Harkers were in a northbound car that was struck head-on by Baker’s southbound car when Baker crossed the center line in an attempt to turn left in front of the Harker auto, the patrol said. n A Fair Grove teenager was injured in a single-vehicle accident at 6:40 a.m. Thursday on Highway 39, three miles north of Shell Knob in Barry County, the state patrol said. Tychus A. McCoy, 17, was taken by ambulance to St. John’s Hospital in Aurora, the patrol said. McCoy was driving a southbound pickup truck that ran off the road and overturned, the patrol said.
