DUENWEG, Mo. — Members of a Duenweg family escaped a fire in their home without injury Tuesday night before the Duenweg Fire Department arrived.
Firefighters were called at 11:30 p.m. to the rental home of the Ted Williams family at 705 Patterson St. Fire Chief Allyn Reding said firefighters confined the blaze to the living room, although the entire house had smoke damage.
Reding said a malfunction in the wall furnace set the carpet, a chair and a sofa in the living room on fire.
Reding said the Southwest Missouri Chapter of the American Red Cross contacted the family in the wake of the fire and was told that shelter would be provided by relatives. The name of the owner of the home was not available Wednesday.
