— An additional charge has been filed against a Joplin crossing guard charged with child abuse.
Prosecutors filed a charge of sexual exploitation of a minor against Richard Sandefer, 59, of rural Joplin. He was previously charged with child abuse.
Sandefer was arrested at about 10 p.m. on Feb. 11. According to a probable cause statement, Sandefer’s wife found pornographic pictures of a 6-year-girl she knew.
Sandefer admitted to taking the photos at his house three weeks earlier, and to showing them to two minor children.
He was still in custody in Jasper County’s jail as of Wednesday morning.
