— GIRARD, Kan. — The Girard Press newspaper will publish its last edition on March 25, according to a release from the paper’s publisher and the town’s mayor.
In a release that appeared in both the Press and the Pittsburg Morning Sun, publisher Stephen Wade said that economic challenges overwhelmed the paper’s ability to continue printing weekly.
The Press is one of the oldest newspapers in the state of Kansas, and one of the oldest businesses in Crawford County, The paper was founded in 1869.
