Several hurt in accidents on roads in area

A Noel resident was injured in a single-vehicle accident at 10:15 a.m. Thursday on Highway 90, a half-mile west of Noel in McDonald County, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Savanna M. Menefee, 18, was taken to Freeman Hospital West in Joplin, the patrol said.

Menefee was driving a westbound car that ran off the road and down a steep embankment, the patrol said.

n Two Oronogo residents were injured in a single-vehicle accident at 8:50 p.m. Wednesday on Highway 96, three miles from Oronogo in Jasper County, the state patrol said.

Two passengers in the vehicle, Kalli E. Tandy, 12, and Shelby E. Tandy, 14, were taken to St. John’s Regional Medical Center in Joplin, the patrol said.

The westbound vehicle, driven by Joy E. Tandy, 33, left the road and overturned when Tandy attempted to stop, the patrol said.

n A Carterville man was injured in a four-vehicle, chain-reaction accident at 3:54 p.m. Wednesday on Maiden Lane at Junge Boulevard, according to the Joplin Police Department.

John Yates, 67, was taken by ambulance to an unspecified local hospital, police said.

Yates was a passenger in a northbound vehicle driven by Stephanie Hoover, 37, of Webb City.

Hoover’s vehicle was struck in the rear by a northbound vehicle driven by Christopher A. Buxton, 27, of Carl Junction, as Hoover was stopped at the intersection behind other vehicles, the report said.

The impact knocked Hoover’s vehicle into the rear of a vehicle driven by Mary Martin, 53, 1814 W. 24th St., which in turn was knocked into the rear of a vehicle driven by Stephen Allen, 34, 1619 W. 13th St., the report said.

n A Joplin resident was injured in a two-vehicle accident at 1:50 p.m. Wednesday on Main Street near D Street in Joplin, Joplin police said.

Shirley Mills, age not available, 602 S. Main St., was taken by ambulance to an unspecified local hospital, police said.

Mills was a passenger in a southbound car driven by Alice Martin, 79, 1597 W. Zora St., that collided head-on with a northbound pickup truck driven by William Crow Jr., 65, of Asbury, police said. Crow crossed the center line into the inside southbound lane, thinking it was a turning lane, the report said.
