n Two residents of Girard, Kan., were injured in a three-vehicle accident at 11:07 a.m. Monday at Centennial Avenue and the U.S. 69 bypass in Pittsburg, Kan., according to the Pittsburg Police Department.
The driver of one of the vehicles, Linda Mills, and her passenger, Brandi Gardner, ages not available, were taken by ambulance to Mount Carmel Regional Medical Center in Pittsburg, police said. Mills’ southbound car and a vehicle driven by James Russian, 50, of Pittsburg, were stopped in a left-turn lane when a vehicle driven by Edward Beauchamp, 76, of Pittsburg, ran into Russian’s car from behind and knocked it into the rear of the Mills car, police said. n Two Springfield residents were injured in a single-vehicle accident at 9:30 p.m. Sunday on Interstate 44, 12 miles east of Mount Vernon in Lawrence County, according to the Missouri patrol. A passenger, Summer D. Owens, 18, was flown by medical helicopter to St. John’s Regional Health Center in Springfield with serious injuries, the patrol said. The driver, Miguel A. Linares-Calvio, 26, was taken by ambulance to the same hospital with minor injuries, the patrol said. The vehicle ran off the road, struck a guardrail and overturned when a rear tire blew out, the patrol said.
