— The Kansas Lottery Commission this morning approved a contract with Penn National Gaming for a casino in Cherokee County.
The contract includes an initial infrastructure investment of $125 million plus a $25 million privilege fee to the state. The company would invest another $100 million over time, under the contract.
The contract now goes to the Lottery Gaming Facility Review Board for consideration.
A Penn National official told Commissioners it plans to open Hollywood Casino-Cherokee County by May 5, 2010, off Interstate 44.
