Published May 09, 2008 12:09 am -  Joplin man tells of being robbedA 37-year-old man reported being robbed by a man with a knife as he was taking out his trash on the north side of Joplin.
Preston Kiefer, 434 N. Main St., told police that he was approached about 9 a.m. Wednesday in the alley behind his home by a man in his mid-30s who asked for a cigarette, according to police Cpl. Chuck Niess. The man reportedly pulled a pocketknife on Kiefer and demanded his wallet. Kiefer said the robber drove off in an older-model, light-gray Chevrolet pickup, with the wallet containing $500 in cash and identification cards. The man was described as 6 feet to 6 feet 3 inches tall, with a goatee and a bald head, Niess said.
