President Bush issued a statement today expressing condolences to those who died during tornadoes that struck Saturday in Missouri, Oklahoma and Georgia.
Today is a special day to honor mothers, he said, but also a sad one because of the tornadoes which left behind people who “are wondering whether or not tomorrow will be a bright and hopeful day.
“We send our prayers to those who lost their lives, the families of those who lost their lives,” Bush said in the statement. “And the federal government will be moving hard to help. I’ll be in touch with the governors to offer all the federal assistance we can.”
A spokesman for the president told the Globe that Bush recently spoke with Missouri Governor Matt Blunt to express his condolences for the lives lost and the state’s needs for recovery.
