A reported robbery of a 57-year-old man in Joplin remained under investigation Monday without any arrests having been made.
Garry D. Long, of Joplin, told police that he was beaten up and robbed by two men who offered to give him a ride while he was walking home about 3 a.m. Friday from 12th and Main streets, according to Cpl. Chuck Niess of the Joplin Police Department.
Long reported that the men drove him about two blocks before stopping, dragging him from the vehicle, punching him and throwing him in a ditch. Niess said Long reported that they stole his wallet containing $55 in cash and personal identification.
The assailants reportedly were in a medium-blue car. Long did not require medical attention, Niess said.
