A Neosho operation is among the 789 dealerships that ailing auto giant Chrysler LLC is proposing to eliminate by June 9.
The company proposed shutting down Neosho Chrysler-Plymouth-Dodge-Jeep Inc., 180 South Highway 171, in a bankruptcy court filing this morning. The company is seeking to close nearly a quarter of its 3,200 U.S. dealerships, saying it has too many stores competing with each other.
Other dealerships in Missouri targeted for closure are in Excelsior Springs, Wentzville, Washington, Republic, Raytown, Ava, Columbia, Ozark, Bolivar, Potosi, St. Robert, Kansas City, Harrisonville, Creve Coeur, Camdenton, Crystal City, Brookfield, Richmond, Sedalia, Platte City, Grandview and Truesdale.
Dealers were to be told this morning via United Parcel Service letter if they would remain or be eliminated. Dealers can appeal the move.
