Published May 16, 2008 01:03 am -  Two men facing drug felonies after car stopsFelony drug charges have been filed in separate cases involving vehicle stops by Joplin police in recent days.
Richard L. Suckley, 31, 729 S. Picher Ave., was charged Tuesday by the Jasper County prosecutor’s office with felony possession of cocaine. Suckley was arrested after a traffic stop about 11:20 p.m. Monday on Junge Boulevard, according to a Joplin Police Department report. Suckley was first cited after his license was found to be suspended, police Lt. Brian Lewis said. Police then reportedly found a found a bag containing about a gram of cocaine in the car. A charge of felony possession of cocaine also was filed against Sergio Gonzalez, 39, 120 W. 45th St., in connection with an arrest recently near Third Street and St. Louis Avenue. Police Cpl. Chuck Niess said an officer checking out a report of suspicious activity in the area reportedly found a glass drug pipe and a lump of rock cocaine in the Gonzalez vehicle. Gonzalez was charged with misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia as well as felony possession, and an outstanding warrant from Newton County for alleged failure to register a motor vehicle was served on him.
