PITTSBURG, Kan. — Authorities are saying an electrical overload led to a fire Friday at a pet store in Pittsburg.
A small fire broke out at 9:10 a.m. in an aquarium light fixture at Claw Paws, 1314 E. Fourth St., according to Capt. Jim Radell with the Pittsburg Fire Department. Radell said firefighters were able to contain the small blaze fairly quickly, and no injuries to people or animals were reported. About 10 firefighters were on the scene until 10:20 a.m.
The fire did damage some ceiling tile and electrical wiring.
An official with the city’s codes enforcement department said repairs were under way Friday, and that he expected the store to reopen by early next week.
