Several injured in traffic accidents on roads in area
Two Washington, Mo., residents were injured in a single-vehicle accident at 2:10 p.m. Tuesday on Highway 96, four miles east of La Russell in Lawrence County, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
The driver, Kenneth L. Strubberg, 76, and his passenger, Rose Strubberg, 73, were taken to St. John’s Regional Medical Center in Joplin, the patrol said.
The Strubbergs were westbound when their pickup truck ran off the road, struck a fence and a creek bed, and came to rest on its side, the patrol said.
n A 42-year-old man was injured in a two-vehicle accident at 10:25 a.m. Monday on Maiden Lane at Second Street in Joplin, according to the Joplin Police Department.
Michael E. Ray, 2508 N. Indiana Ave., was taken by ambulance to Freeman Hospital West in Joplin, police said.
Ray was riding a northbound motorcycle in the right lane and attempted to pass a northbound trailer truck that had switched to the left lane to make a wide right turn onto Second Street, police said. The motorcycle collided with the truck driven by John H. Collins, 51, of Wagoner, Okla., the report said.
n A Goodman woman was injured in a two-vehicle accident at 2:50 p.m. Sunday on Allison Road, three miles east of Goodman in McDonald County, the state patrol said.
Dawn Blythe, 22, was taken to Freeman Neosho Hospital, the patrol said.
Blythe was a passenger in a northbound pickup truck driven by Justin K. Cook, 23, of Marionville, that crossed the center on a curve and struck a southbound car head-on, the patrol said. The driver of the southbound car was listed as Shirley J. Brendel, 72, of Anderson.
n A Sarcoxie woman was injured in a two-vehicle accident at 7:45 p.m. Sunday on Route U, a half-mile north of Sarcoxie in Jasper County, the state patrol said.
April L. Schubert, 24, was taken by ambulance to McCune-Brooks Regional Hospital in Carthage, the patrol said.
Schubert was driving a northbound pickup truck that collided with a westbound car driven by Shane J. King, 36, of Tulsa, Okla., when King failed to yield and pulled into Schubert’s path, the patrol said.
