MINDENMINES, Mo. — Discover colorful wildflowers and learn about prairie plants on guided hikes this summer at Prairie State Park, near Mindenmines.
The hikes will take place on June 6, July 4 and Aug. 1. Sponsored by the Missouri Department of Natural Resources, the free hikes will begin at 10 a.m. and are open to the public.
As the colors of the prairie are ever changing, each of these hikes will offer a unique experience. Meet at the park’s visitor center to embark on each excursion into the prairie grasses and flowers. Participants are encouraged to wear sturdy, closed-toed shoes, and to bring along drinking water. Dress for the weather, rain or shine.
Prairie State Park is located 17 miles west of Lamar on Highway 160 to State Road NN. For more information, contact the park at (417) 843-6711. Details: www.mostateparks.com.
