Brothers in custody in Oklahoma
A pair of Kansas brothers are in custody awaiting charges after allegedly staging a small crime spree in Ottawa County on Monday, including allegedly stopping a woman in her vehicle and taking her purse and later driving through a family’s yard.
The Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department arrested Jason N. Holland, 28, and Jeremy D. Holland, 30, on Monday after several incidents, according to a release. Charges are expected to be filed Wednesday, according to the office of District Attorney Eddie Wyant.
The pair are accused of first stopping in front of a woman’s vehicle west of Commerce, Okla., so Jason Holland, of Pittsburg, Kan., could walk up to the woman’s vehicle, jerk open her car door and reach across and take her purse from out from under her. Jason Holland reportedly told the woman, “Have a good day,” before he left.
Not long afterward, the Holland brothers allegedly drove through the yard and up to the pool of a foster family in rural Ottawa County. The brothers reportedly started to exit their vehicle when the family’s Boxer dog “became very agitated and began to charge” Jeremy Holland, of Parsons, Kan., according to a probable cause affidavit submitted to the District Attorney’s office. The Holland brothers then returned to their vehicles and departed.
The Holland brothers were later arrested by Sgt. Robert Cook, who spotted the Hollands’ vehicle based on identification information furnished by the woman whose purse was stolen. After the second incident, the brothers allegedly entered the residence of another rural Ottawa County woman.
The Holland brothers are currently at the Ottawa County Jail awaiting charges.
