Arkansas man killed in accident in Delaware County

An Arkansas man was killed in a two-vehicle accident at 6:15 p.m. Monday on Highway 412, a mile east of Leach, Okla., in Delaware County, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

Christopher J. Hickman, 33, of Rogers, Ark., was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, the state patrol said. Hickman was a passenger in a car driven by Joey K. Wilson, 20, of Kansas, Okla., who was pinned inside the vehicle for 45 minutes before being extricated and flown by medical helicopter to Washington Regional Hospital in Fayetteville, Ark., with serious injuries, the patrol said.

The driver and passengers of the other vehicle involved either escaped injury or declined medical treatment, the patrol said.

Wilson was southbound on a county road and made a left turn onto the highway into the path of a westbound pickup truck driven by Dustin Lee Baker, 21, of Ganns, Okla., the patrol said. The truck struck Wilson’s car on the front of the driver’s side and the car traveled about 175 feet before coming to rest on its side, the patrol said.

n A Kansas teenager sustained serious injuries in a single-vehicle accident at 3:25 p.m. Tuesday on U.S. Highway 160, a mile east of Mindenmines in Barton County, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Brandi J. Mercer, 18, of Girard, Kan., was taken to St. John’s Regional Medical Center in Joplin after the accident, the state patrol said.

Mercer was driving an eastbound Toyota Tacoma that ran off the road and overturned, throwing her from the vehicle, the patrol said.

n A Jay, Okla., man was injured in a single-vehicle accident at 7:31 p.m. Sunday on County Road 4465 at County Road 360 north of Langley in Mayes County, the state patrol said.

Audie Woolman, 38, was taken to Mayes County Medical Center after the accident, the patrol said.

Woolman was driving a northbound pickup truck that ran off the road on a curve, causing him to over correct and the vehicle to run off the other side of the road and overturn onto its side, the patrol said.
