More than half of the students at Pittsburg State University live in counties ravaged by floods. Students from those counties can request a deferred payment plan for the upcoming school year. “Families are dealing with the loss of homes and businesses,” said PSU President Tom Bryant in a press release. “We don’t want them to worry that they won’t be able to come up with fee and tuition payments.” More than 3,800 students live in disaster-designated counties, or about 57 percent of the student body. Students from those counties may request a deferred payment plan by calling the Cashier’s and Student Accounts office. A $25 contract fee for setting up a payment plan will be waived. Usually, the plan calls for 50 percent of tuition and fees to be paid upon signing the contract. Shari Brogan, assistant controller for the cashier’s office, said her office will work with students who can’t meet those payments. See Wednesday's Globe for more on the story.
