A 33-year-old Joplin man waived his right to a preliminary hearing Thursday in Jasper County Circuit Court on a charge of second-degree assault in connection with a traffic accident that caused injuries to others in February.
Matthew E. Ganes, 2321 S. Cleveland Ave., was ordered bound over for trial by Associate Judge Richard Copeland. The judge set Aug. 18 as the date for Ganes’ first appearance in a trial division of the court.
The charge stems from an accident Feb. 16 in the 400 block of Winfield Avenue, according to a probable-cause affidavit. Ganes is accused of being intoxicated and driving a vehicle that ran into the rear of another vehicle. Two people were taken to a hospital with injuries, the affidavit states.
