Three people were killed and three were injured in a single-vehicle accident at 9:45 p.m. Sunday in the 600 block of Civil War Road in Carthage, according to the Carthage Police Department.
The names of the three people pronounced dead at the scene of the accident were not being released Monday pending notification of relatives. But police identified those injured as Sheila Wright, 23; Aaron Taylor, 17; and Timothy Maggard, 22, all of Carthage. The injured were taken to hospitals by medical helicopter and ambulance.
Police had yet to release any further details of the accident by late Monday night.
• An Ohio man was injured in a single-vehicle accident at 5:45 a.m. Monday on Route DD in Seligman, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
Truck driver Jerry G. Holley, 47, of Pomeroy, Ohio, was taken by ambulance to St. John’s Hospital in Cassville, the patrol said.
Holley was driving a westbound tractor-trailer that ran off the road and overturned, the patrol said.
• Two Arkansas residents were injured in a single-vehicle accident at 2:15 a.m. Monday on Interstate 44, four miles east of Mount Vernon in Lawrence County, the state patrol said.
The driver, Douglas A. Brand, 41, of Springdale, and a passenger, Nathan L. Breier, 25, of Rogers, were taken to St. John’s Regional Medical Center in Joplin, the patrol said.
The westbound vehicle ran off the road, and struck a fence and a tree after Brand fell asleep at the wheel, the patrol said.
