A 25-year-old man has been charged with felony possession of a methamphetamine precursor as a consequence of a traffic stop Wednesday night in Joplin by Jasper County sheriff’s deputies.
The Sheriff’s Department said in a news release that deputies stopped a vehicle at Fifth Street and Picher Avenue for an equipment violation. The release said the deputies could smell an odor associated with meth labs emanating from the vehicle.
A search of the vehicle reportedly turned up some drug paraphernalia and a bag containing more than 100 pills of ephedrine.
Casey B. Hutchison and a 28-year-old woman, both of Joplin, were taken into custody. The felony charge was filed against Hutchison, but no charge was filed against the woman.
