Oronogo’s streets will be getting a $350,000 facelift due to a U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Rural Development Agency loan.
Congressman Roy Blunt announced the loan today, and said in a written statement that the money would address “much needed” improvements, and the project should move quickly.
Oronogo normally has $30,000 to spend on streets each year. The loan will be paid off by the recently passed bond issue and sales tax.
Oronogo Mayor Mildred West said in a written statement, she hoped the city would get two miles of paving work done before the end of the year.
The 2000 census of Oronogo reported the city’s population at 976, but city officials put the number now at more than 2,000 residents.
