Several injured in traffic accidents on roads in area
A Carthage woman was injured in a single-vehicle accident at 8:15 a.m. Wednesday on Interstate 44, three miles east of Joplin, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
Brandy L. Miller, 35, was taken by ambulance to Freeman Hospital West, the patrol said.
Miller was driving a westbound vehicle and braked suddenly to avoid an accident, causing her vehicle to run off the road and strike the median, the patrol said.
n A 23-year-old man was injured in a single-vehicle accident at 5:06 a.m. Wednesday on Murphy Boulevard near Lone Elm Road, the Joplin Police Department said.
Matthew L. Beck, 17441/2 W. 20th St., was taken by ambulance to an unspecified hospital, the department said.
Beck was driving an eastbound car that slid off the roadway and struck a tree when he hit the brakes, police said.
n A Seneca woman was injured in a two-vehicle accident at 11:15 a.m. Tuesday on Missouri Highway 86, a mile south of Redings Mill in Newton County, according to the Missouri patrol.
Judith S. Williams, 28, was taken to Freeman Hospital West in Joplin.
Williams was driving a southbound car that crossed the center line and struck a northbound truck driven by Buttonstet L. Cameron, 41, of Joplin, the patrol said.
n Two Carthage residents were injured in a motorcycle-car collision at 8:35 p.m. Monday on County Road 130, two miles south of Carthage in Jasper County, the state patrol said.
The driver of the motorcycle, Daniel L. Cupp, 55, and his passenger, Deborah Cupp, 54, were taken by ambulance to McCune-Brooks Regional Hospital in Carthage.
The Cupps’ northbound motorcycle collided with a southbound pickup truck driven by John S. Taylor, 67, of Carthage, as they met on the crest of a hill, the patrol said.
n A Pineville man was injured in a motorcycle accident at 5:50 p.m. Monday on Cyclone Road, seven miles east of Anderson in McDonald County, the state patrol said.
Cole Austin, 26, was taken to Freeman Hospital West in Joplin, the patrol said.
Austin’s motorcycle ran off the road and struck some trees, the patrol said.
