Recent break-ins reported at two Joplin businesses remained under investigation Thursday without any arrests having been made.
Police officers responding to an alarm at 2:45 a.m. Thursday at the Movie Gallery store at 1802 W. 32nd St. found glass broken out of the front door. Cpl. Chuck Niess of the Joplin Police Department said that while entry to the business appeared to have been gained, the store’s manager could not find that anything was missing.
The store has taken some additional precautions to protect its merchandise since a break-in Aug. 21, when more than $800 worth of video games and digital video discs were stolen, Niess said.
The owner of Yates Trackside Furniture, 1004 E. 15th St., reported discovering a break-in Wednesday morning. A large glass window was broken, and a laptop computer was taken, according to a police report.
