— Joplin police have released the identity of a two-year-old male who died Tuesday morning at a local hospital.
Kyler Jones, of Joplin, was pronounced dead at St. John’s Regional Medical Center after being transferred from St. John’s Express Care.
The name was withheld until today due to the fact that the child’s father, who lives out of state, had not been contacted, police said.
Cpl. Chuck Niess, with the Joplin Police Department, said on Tuesday that the death of the toddler was being treated as suspicious. Police on Friday said the investigation into the child’s death is continuing.
