A 53-year-old Joplin man has been charged with felony assault in connection with a fight Sunday afternoon in which another man was cut with a knife.
Police and emergency medical workers were called at 1:58 p.m. Sunday to the home of Dustin E. Stottler, 24, at 1915 S. Murphy Ave., Lt. Brian Lewis of the Joplin Police Department said.
Lewis said Stottler was treated at the scene for cuts on his neck that were not life-threatening. He said Stottler told officers that James G. Buchanan, 1912 S. Murphy Ave., had been drinking at the Stottler home, and became angry with Stottler when he refused to pay for a taxicab to bring Buchanan’s girlfriend to the address.
Lewis said a fight ensued during which Buchanan allegedly pulled out a folding knife and cut Stottler. Buchanan was arrested at the scene and later charged with second-degree assault.
