PITTSBURG, Kan. — Pittsburg police were searching Saturday for a man who used a handgun in a robbery attempt.
Police were called Saturday morning to the Sonic Drive In, 2307 N. Broadway, after a Pittsburg man reported that someone had first struck him with a blunt object and then tried to rob him, according to a release.
The victim told police that he was been walking back to his car when a man hit him multiple times with a blunt object.
The man, described as about 5 feet tall and weighing 120 pounds, then drew a handgun and demanded the victim’s money. The gunman then fled the scene on foot without taking any money, moving northwest from the parking lot.
Pittsburg police searched the area afterward but were unable to locate the man, who was wearing a dark-colored hooded sweatshirt emblazoned with Adidas on the front.
