Two Joplin men were injured Saturday afternoon in a two-vehicle collision just west of the city limits, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
John H. Gourley, 52, was traveling west about 1 p.m. on Highway 66, one mile west of Joplin, when another vehicle driven by Michelle D. Sorell, 20, also of Joplin, ran into Gourley’s path, the patrol said. Gourley’s truck skidded before striking Sorell’s car on its left side.
Gourley was taken to Freeman Hospital West in Joplin. Sorell also was also taken to Freeman.
n A Nevada man was hurt after his motorcycle ran off the road Saturday morning, according to the state patrol.
Jeremy D. Simrell, 32, was driving north about 11:25 a.m. on Main Street in Nevada when he failed to negotiate a curve and his motorcycle ran off the right side of the road. The cycle then overturned. The patrol reported Simrell was later located at his home.
Simrell was later taken to Nevada Regional Medical Center for treatment of his injuries.
