Three motorists hurt in accidents on roads in area

A Monett woman sustained serious injuries in a single-vehicle accident at 8:59 a.m. Friday on Route J, one mile east of Diamond in Newton County, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Willa J. Landoll, 78, was taken to St. John’s Regional Medical Center in Joplin, the state patrol said.

Landoll was driving a westbound vehicle that left the road, struck a concrete culvert and overturned, the patrol said.

n Both drivers were injured in a two-vehicle accident at 3:44 p.m. Friday on Highway 37 at the southern city limits of Seligman in Barry County, the state patrol said.

Edward E. Larson, 59, of Washburn, was taken to Cox Medical Center South in Springfield with serious injuries, the patrol said. John R. Dye, 67, of Seligman, was taken to Mercy Hospital in Rogers, Ark., with moderate injuries, the patrol said.

Larson was driving a northbound car and was passing another vehicle with Dye’s southbound pickup truck oncoming in the southbound lane, the patrol said. Larson swerved to the right to avoid Dye’s truck but lost control of his car and it skidded back across the center line and struck the truck nearly head-on, the patrol said.
