MIAMI, Okla. — Three pet dogs died in a fire Friday morning that damaged a home in Miami.
The Miami Fire Department responded at 7:58 a.m. to a fire at the home of Tracy Whitetree at 510 F St. N.E. Firefighter Brent Judd said there were flames shooting out windows at the back of the single-story house when the Fire Department arrived.
No one was home at the time, Judd said, but Whitetree lost three dogs in the fire, he said.
While firefighters were able to confine fire damage to a back bedroom and the attic of the house, there was smoke and water damage to the remainder of the house, Judd said. He said a gas-operated heater in the bedroom that burned is suspected as the cause of the fire.
