Here’s a quick breakdown of what area candidates reported to the Missouri Ethics Commission eight days before the election. As you can see from donations they made, when they don’t have competition, they love to help each other out.
Rep. Ed Emery, R-Lamar, has raised $16,225.73 and spent $15,796.81. He has a war chest of $4,917.83.
His largest donations include $2,500 from AT&T, $3,500 from Ameren UE, and $1,000 from Missouri Cable.
His expenses include donations of $11,000 to the House Republican Central Committee and $1,000 to the gubernatorial campaign of U.S. Rep. Kenny Hulshof.
n Emery’s competitor, Linda Marie Crane, D-Greenfield, raised $630 and spent $1,388.30. She has a war chest of $386.99.
Her report includes donations of $100 each from attorney Michael D. Holzknecht, of Stockton, Lamar Democrat owner Doug Davis, of Lamar, and Bill and Carolyn Head, of Greenfield.
Her expenses for advertisements include $649 to Lakes Radio KRWP, $374 to the Carthage Press and $143 to the Lamar Democrat.
Tom Flanigan, R-Carthage, the only candidate running to succeed Rep. Steve Hunter, raised $1,650 and spent $7,595.43. He has a war chest of $3,908.99.
He reported donations of $400 each from BNSF Railway, of Fort Worth, Texas, and the 126th District Legislative Committee, of Liberal.
He donated $2,045.43 to the 127th District Committee, of Jasper, and $500 each to 11 different candidates, including Hulshof, Scott Largent, of Clinton, Don Ruzicka, of Mount Vernon, and Eric Burlison, of Springfield.
Speaker-elect Ron Richard, R-Joplin, has raised $83,700 and spent $81,335.71. He has a war chest of $36,173.30.
His report includes donations of $13,000 from the Southwest Missouri Leadership Committee, of Joplin, $7,500 from Ameren UE, and $5,000 each from Express Scripts, Kansas City Power and Light and AT&T. He donated $49,000 to the House Republican Campaign Committee, $5,000 to U.S. Rep. Roy Blunt and $2,000 to the Dade County Republican Committee, of Greenfield.
Rep. Marilyn Ruestman, R-Joplin, raised $13,052.50 and spent $3,061.88. She has a war chest of $93,146.51.
