Voters OK full-time prosecutor for McDonald County, water issue in Lanagan

Voters in McDonald County have backed a plan to make their prosecutor’s office a full-time position, while a bond measure in Lanagan eked out a narrow victory in today’s election, according to complete but unofficial results.

The proposal for the prosecutor’s position passed by a margin of 696 in favor to 580 against. Countywide, turnout was 9.5 percent.

The prosecutor position will become full-time effective June 2011. The salary for that position, too, will rise from $53,000 to $106,000 then.

In Lanagan, meanwhile, a proposal to issue $100,000 in revenue bonds to finance construction of a new waterline from Anderson to supply Lanagan passed with 35 “yes” votes to 31 “no” votes.
