Fourth council nominating petition picked up in Joplin

Another person has picked up a nominating petition for the Joplin City Council.

Erik Wright, 28, 528 S. Jackson Ave., said he is considering a run for a general seat.

Wright said he is interested in working on two specific projects if he were elected: further development of downtown and expansion of the rejuvenation to surrounding neighborhoods and increased access for people to use the Sunshine Lamp Trolley.

Wright is employed as director of surveillance for the Buffalo Run Casino at Miami, Okla.

Three incumbents have already decided to run for re-election, they said. The filing period for people to pick up nominating petitions opened Tuesday, Nov. 17.

Five seats, three general and two zone positions, will be filled in the April 6 election.

Three incumbents have picked up nominating petitions: Gary Shaw, Michael Seibert and and Mike Woolston.

However, two of those who hold general seats, Phil Stinnett and Jim West, have not said what they intend to do. West said he will make an announcement next month.
