A fourth person has picked up a nominating petition for the Joplin City Council.

Erik Wright, 28, 528 S. Jackson Ave., said he is considering a run for a general seat.

Wright said he is interested in working on two specific projects if he were elected: redevelopment, and increased access to the Sunshine Lamp Trolley.

“I’m really happy with the downtown revitalization effort the city has made, and I’m interested in keeping that going and pushing into surrounding neighborhoods,” Wright said. He said he also supports public transportation and would like to see more stops and expanded service of the Sunshine Lamp Trolley.

Wright, a graduate of Missouri Southern State University, is employed as director of surveillance for the Buffalo Run Casino at Miami, Okla.

Five seats — three general and two zone positions — will be on the ballot in the April 6 election.

Three incumbents — Gary Shaw, Michael Seibert and Mike Woolston — have picked up nominating petitions.

Phil Stinnett and Jim West, both of whom hold general seats, have not said what they intend to do. West said he will make an announcement next month.

The nominating period for people to pick up petitions opened Nov. 17 and will close Jan. 19.
