Spiva Center for the Arts has announced the winners of the 61st annual membership show.

Spiva members competed for $3,000 in cash prizes in the adult and children’s divisions. A total of 144 artists participated.

The AT&T Main Gallery exhibit is open to the public through Sunday, Dec. 21.

The winners:

Adult competitive 3-D: First, Aston Stovern, Webb City, “Center of Time,” mild steel; second, Randy Wright, Joplin, “River,” sterling silver, amethyst, opal, cedar; third, Cathy Bechtel, Joplin, “Solid Movement,” Utah alabaster; merit award, Justin Hale, Joplin, “Scream,” maple; honorable mention, Rebecca Perry, Webb City, “Yonder,” clay, twigs, stone; and Melody Knowles, Carthage, “Spirit Vessel,” clay.

Adult competitive 2-D: First, Jeff Youngblood, Joplin, “Disconnect,” charcoal; second, Tricia Courtney, Joplin, “Flower Power,” acrylic on door; third, Mark Norris, Joplin, “Redings Mill Bridge 2,” photograph; merit award, Dan McWilliams, Jasper, “56 People,” oil; honorable mention, Mark Woodin, Joplin, “everything stops eventually,” mixed media; and Brenda Molesworth Sageng, Carthage, “A Narrow Escape,” watercolor.

Barrie Hunt received the Memorial Award for Outstanding Work by an Emerging Artist in Watermedia, and Susan Drennan, Galena, Kan., won for “What a Tangled Web is Weaved … ,” watercolor.

Children’s competitive, ages 11 and under: Coolest paint technique, Tressa Stovern, Webb City, “All Mixed Up,” tempera paint; Less is More Award, Jennalee Dunn, Joplin, “Flowers of the Breeze,” ink on paper; best use of color and motion, Adeline Dunn, Joplin, “Teeka the Duck,” color pencil; excellence in detail, Brody Coursey, Webb City, “Dorothy,” color pencil; juror’s choice award, Kenya Medlock, Carthage, “Swimming Through the Wonderful Mosaics,” mosaic; best use of mixed media, Dara Restivo, Carl Junction, “Asian Air,” mixed media; juror’s choice award for imagination, Summer McCool, Noel, “Alligator,” limestone, latex paint.

Youth competitive, ages 12-16: Best use of color, Brayden Kyger, Joplin, “Sunset,” acrylic; best use of bold graphics, Rylee Stovern, Webb City, “The Missing Element,” acrylic; juror’s choice award, Rebecca Mae Humphreys, Joplin, “Persephone,” clay; pop culture character design, Summer Dean, “Harauuku Snow,” manga pen, pencil; best light and shadow drawing, Megan Peters, Pittsburg, Kan., “Joann,” graphite.
