Joplin police probe thefts from vehicles



Several vehicles were broken into recently on the parking lot of the Wal-Mart store at 1501 S. Range Line Road, according to a Joplin Police Department report.

About $7,000 worth of items were stolen from the vehicles. The items included purses, credit cards, compact discs, car stereo equipment, a set of skis, camping and fishing gear, a chair, clothes, books, cologne, and an emergency kit.

Victims listed on the police report were Nathan Hutchins, Joe Casillas, Tara Kyger, Daniel Corum, Brian Croxdale and Anthony Ori.

Other recent incidents reported to Joplin police include the following.

n Virginia L. Gormely reported that a $1,500 laptop computer was stolen from her home at 2620 S. Ozark Court in an apparent burglary.

n Someone kicked in the front door of Nicole Ansell’s home at 2525 E. 32nd St., Apartment 14, and stole some collectible coins, a lockbox, a passport and a green card.

n Elizabeth Robinson, 803 S. Patterson Ave., reported that someone stole her electronic benefits card and has been using it to make purchases.

n Nicholas Dean, 1830 W. 22nd St., reported a burglary at his home. Stolen were some compact discs, a $130 acoustic guitar, an electric guitar valued at $50, a $25 video-game console and two guitar amplifiers worth $100.

n Someone broke out a window at My Clinic, 2700 S. McClelland Blvd., Suite A-104, entered two offices and stole some unspecified items.

n Five air-conditioning units at Connie’s Antiques, 3421 N. Range Line Road, were damaged, and some of their parts were stolen.

n A vehicle parked at 1715 S. Rex Ave. was broken into, and a wallet with cash and credit cards, an MP3 player worth $200 and a $1,000 laptop computer were stolen. Victims were listed as Leggett & Platt Inc., and Joshua Leineman and Scott Robertson, residents of apartments at that address.

n Charlie Bass reported a burglary at his home at 115 S. Galena Ave. Stolen were a wallet, a Social Security card, Medicaid and Medicare cards, an automated teller machine card, a driver’s license, a satellite receiver valued at $50, a $150 digital video disc player, a $100 diabetes tester, $200 worth of needles, and $300 in cash.

n Someone stole a $375 flat-screen television set from Laura Rudolph in a burglary at her home at 3950 E. Newman Road.

n Susan Welch, address not listed, reported the theft of a laptop computer worth $1,124 while she was at Northpark Mall, 101 N. Range Line Road.

n Christopher Grabenauer, 200 E. Zora St., Apartment 35, reported that someone used his identity to obtain electrical service.
