An Arkansas woman was killed and a Pineville man was seriously injured in a two-vehicle accident at 10:20 p.m. Sunday on U.S. Highway 71 at Jane in McDonald County, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
Tara E. Clark, 36, of Bella Vista, Ark., was pronounced dead at the scene by McDonald County Coroner B.J. Goodwin, the state patrol said. She was a passenger in a car driven by Harry E. Black, 40, of Pineville. Black was flown by medical helicopter to Northwest Regional Hospital in Bentonville, Ark., the patrol said.
Black’s eastbound car was struck in the passenger side by a northbound tractor-trailer driven by Michael D. Samms, 49, of Texarkana, Texas, at an intersection, the patrol said.
n Both drivers were injured in a two-vehicle accident at 3:05 p.m. Sunday on West Seventh Street at the entrance to the Wal-Mart store in Joplin, a police report said.
Carol J. LaTurner, 32, of Riverton, Kan., and Kathryn L. Shaw, 21, of rural Carl Junction, were taken to St. John’s Regional Medical Center in Joplin, the report said.
LaTurner was driving an eastbound sport utility vehicle and making a left turn into the entrance when her vehicle collided with Shaw’s westbound car, the report said.
n An 84-year-old woman was injured in a two-vehicle accident at 11:56 a.m. Friday on Hearnes Boulevard at 41st Street in Joplin, according to a Joplin Police Department report.
Loretta E. Lagow, 4601 S. Wall Ave., was taken by ambulance to an unspecified hospital, the report said.
Lagow was driving a southbound car that collided with an eastbound van driven by James L. Campbell, 76, 4119 S. Wall Ave. Campbell’s van then struck a traffic signal post, and Lagow’s car came to rest in a median, the report said.
