CARTHAGE, Mo. — The Carthage Fire Department says a fire Friday morning that caused extensive damage to a vacant house at 512 N. Case St. has been determined to have been deliberately set.
Firefighters were called to the address at 10:07 a.m. and found a fire going in two rooms. The fire spread to other rooms before they were able to get it extinguished, fire Capt. Tom Nixon said.
No injuries were reported. Carthage police and fire departments and a Missouri state fire investigator are probing the incident. Nixon said an accelerant was used to start the fire.
