Carthage group planning forum on teen pregnancy

CARTHAGE, Mo. — When it comes to teen pregnancy, there needs to be more communication between parents and students.

That’s the message she hears constantly from students involved in the Carthage Parents as Teacher program, said Jane Goade, PAT program coordinator. It will be the subject of a public forum for students and parents that PAT will sponsor Nov. 1 at the Carthage R-9 Auditorium.

Goade said she knows communication won’t prevent every instance of teen pregnancy, but students who now also are parents tell her “they wish there could have been more communication.

Planning for the forum has been discussed for over a year, and speakers will include former students  and parents who have gone through the teen pregnancy experience.
