PITTSBURG, Kan. — Crawford County sheriff's deputies were in the process this noon hour of executing a search warrant at a residence in the Oak Hill Trailer Park in connection with the murder of a man discovered Monday night.
Sheriff Sandy Horton said the man's body was found in the vicinity of the trailer park and has been sent to Topeka, Kan., for an autopsy. Horton said three people are in custody at this time, although not necessarily in connection with the murder.
"We are not actively seeking anybody else though in this investigation," Horton said.
Sheriff’s deputies reportedly found the body of a male victim about 7:30 p.m. in the vicinity of 943 S. 190th St., according to a news release from the Sheriff’s Department. The body was taken to a state medical examiner’s office in Topeka for an autopsy.
The identity of the victim and the manner in which he was killed has yet to be released. Horton said more information would be released later day in what he has termed "a fast-moving investigation."
The Sheriff’s Department, Pittsburg police, the Kansas Highway Patrol and the Kansas Bureau of Investigation are involved in a probe of the murder.
