Two area students nominated for military academies

— U.S. Rep. Billy Long today announced his nominations of 15 students in the 7th Congressional District to United States Service Academies.  

The list includes:

- Matthew Henson, Joplin, who is attending Carl Junction High School. He was nominated for the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md.

- Malachi Leece, Webb City, currently attending West Point Prep School, who was nomated for the U.S. Military Academy in West Point, N.Y.

“One of my most gratifying duties is to nominate young people from our district to service academies. I want to thank these students for their interest in serving our nation and know they will make Southwest Missouri proud,” Long said in a statement.
