JOPLIN, Mo. —
A suspect in the robbery of a First State Bank branch in Joplin two weeks ago has been arrested, along with his wife, for robbing a bank in North Dakota.
The Associated Press is reporting that Johnny Patrom, 19, and Amanda Patrom, 18, are accused of holding up the Bank Forward on the campus of the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks on Friday. They are being held without bond and are scheduled to enter pleas to several felony charges Sept. 4.
Patrom, who has lived in Carl Junction, Springfield and Galena, Kan., in recent years, is wanted for questioning in the June 27 robbery of the First State Bank branch at 1651 W. Seventh St. in Joplin.
A man wearing a bandanna over his face and brandishing a small handgun robbed the bank at 10:20 a.m. on that date and fled In a black sport utility vehicle that was subsequently recovered by police in a nearby parking lot.
Authorities in North Dakota told the AP that Johnny Patrom will be prosecuted there before being sent back to face any charges in Missouri.
