JOPLIN, Mo. —
The city estimates that vandals caused about $4,000 worth of property damage in Cunningham Park, draining the swimming pool of 200,000 gallons of water and moving some large landscaping rocks into the reflecting pond.
The vandalism was inflicted overnight Tuesday and discovered the following morning by Parks and Recreation Department employees. The city managed to get the landscaping damage repaired and the pool refilled in time for Wednesday’s ceremony commemorating the second anniversary of the 2011 tornado.
