Joplin public meetings to be held today on tornado proposals, memorials

Two public feedback sessions on Joplin’s redevelopment proposals and a tornado memorial will be held today.

The private master development firm hired by the city, Wallace Bajjali Development Partners, will have representatives on hand for two sessions  —2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. — in the basement conference room at City Hall, 602 S. Main St.

David Wallace, chief executive officer of the firm, will make presentations on potential development projects at the sessions.

The firm also will have tables set up with displays of the various projects. Residents will be invited to leave remarks about the proposals.

Members of the Citizens Advisory Recovery Team (CART) also will be seeking public opinions on what type of tornado memorial should be built.
