Neosho council approves bids

NEOSHO, Mo. — The Neosho city council approved bids for wiring at a municipal wastewater treatment plant and for a sound system for the city pool during their meeting Tuesday night.

The council approved a $9,188 bid from Long Electric, of Neosho, to complete the wiring at the Crowder waste water treatment plant. Public works director, Mike Hightower told the council the plant should be operational by August.

The council also approved a $6,331 bid from Total electronics Contracting Inc., of Joplin, to provide a new sound system for the public swimming pool. Parks Director John Jordan told the council the system could be purchased using left over insurance money the city collected following a fire last summer that destroyed the concession area and one locker room.

In other business, the council discussed the upcoming Celebrate Neosho festival and allowing the Neosho High School cross country team to use the closed portion of the municipal golf course formerly known as the lakes to practice and host cross country meets.
