Man in custody in Oklahoma charged with Joplin bank robbery

JOPLIN, Mo. — A 35-year-old man is being charged in federal court with Monday’s robbery of a United Missouri Bank branch in Joplin.

The Joplin Police Department said in a news release that Wesley C. Osborne Jr., of Joplin, who is in custody in Oklahoma on an unrelated matter, is being charged with robbery of the bank at 2106 S. Maiden Lane. The charge is expected to be filed by the U.S. attorney’s office in Springfield.

Osborne was arrested about 10:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Downstream Casino Hotel by the Quapaw Tribal Marshal Service on a charge of domestic assault and battery, according to the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department. He remained in custody Wednesday at the Ottawa County Jail in Miami, Okla.
