JOPLIN, Mo. —
A suspect charged with Monday’s robbery of a United Missouri Bank in Joplin was arrested Tuesday night at the Downstream Casino Resort for an alleged domestic assault and battery.
The Joplin Police Department announced in a news release late Wednesday afternoon that a federal complaint was being filed by the U.S. attorney’s office in Springfield charging Wesley C. Osborne Jr., 35, of Joplin, with the robbery of the UMB branch at 2106 S. Maiden Lane.
The release said Osborne was in custody at the Ottawa County Jail in Miami, Okla., on an unrelated matter.
Detective Derek Derwin of the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department told the Globe that the Quapaw Tribal Marshals Service arrested Osborne about 10:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Downstream Casino Resort after he was accused of domestic assault and battery.
Derwin did not have any other details concerning the arrest, and the Globe was unable to reach the marshals service Wednesday night.
Electronic court records in Missouri show Osborne has a divorce case pending in Taney County. A protection order was issued against him in November. The lone felony conviction that shows up for him in Missouri is on a charge of possession of a controlled substance in 2006, for which he served 120 days of shock incarceration and was released on probation.
The FBI assisted Joplin police in the investigation of the bank robbery, which took place at 3:22 p.m. Monday. A man entered the bank and handed a teller a note stating that he had a gun and would use it if necessary, although police say he never actually displayed a weapon.

THE ROBBER reportedly forced all bank employees down on the floor before leaving with an undisclosed amount of cash.
