A Webb City teen was sentenced Monday in Jasper County Circuit Court in Joplin to five years in prison in the stabbing of another teen last year.

Daniel Levi Jordan, 18, had pleaded guilty to charges of first-degree assault and armed criminal action in June. He was assessed a five-year prison sentence for each charge, to be served concurrently, under a plea agreement with the Jasper County prosecutor’s office.

Jordan was arrested May 24, 2008, after Webb City police responded to a report of a stabbing at a chat pile area near the eastern city limits. Officers reportedly found a 15-year-old girl who had been stabbed while walking in the area.

Authorities later said Jordan and the victim were at a gathering at the chat pile. About 3 a.m., the girl said she was going to walk to her home in Carterville, and Jordan volunteered to escort her. An argument then ensued, prompting Jordan to stab the girl in the back. Her injuries were not life-threatening.
